Bräu fishing grounds

Fishing exclusively for hotel guests

As a special treat for being a guest of the Hotel Bräu you get to fish exclusively in our own fishing grounds. Do not miss this nature experience! You do not need a fishing licence but need to bring your fishing equipment with you.

An overview of our Bräu fishery

  • Fishing grounds: Ziller from Mayrhofen to Zell in the Zillertal Valley (approx. 8km), Mountain streams: Gerlosbach, Sidanbach and Horbergbach (difficult for fishing)

  • Bait artificial fly fishing on the Ziller on the stretch of water from Mayrhofen to Hippach (approx. 4km), for other baits on the Ziller from Hippach to Zell in the Zillertal Valley (approx. 4km) and at the Gerlosbach, Sidanbach and Horbergbach

  • Melting snow, high water, hydropeaking: melting snow period in April; good fishing in May and June because melted water is held back in the reservoirs; in July and August there are mainly high waters, with the regular hydropeaking making fishing difficult; fishing conditions are good again in September and October, especially with the dry flies

  • Water protection measures on the Ziller on the stretch between Mayrhofen and Hippach (approx. 4km):
    • fishing without barbed hooks
    • only artificial fly fishing (dry, wet, nymph) with fly rods and fly line
    • no fish to be taken, just gently released
    • average size of trout and grayling: 30-45cm
    • mandatory stocking of trout as well as the release of grayling spawn

  • Water protection measures on the lower part of the Ziller and the mountain streams:
    • natural bait, triple hooks and barbed hooks are not accepted by the fishing authority
    • live fish can be dropped off at the hotel kitchen for preparation and cooking and are for personal use only
    • brown trout, rainbow trout and char must be at least 30cm long and grayling at least 45cm long

Enjoy your holiday while fishing in our hotel's own fishing grounds, in the middle of unspoiled nature!
